An Ohio man who has already been charged with assaulting two State Police officers at Grove City Medical Center now faces a third assault charge for allegedly attacking a corrections official at the Mercer County Jail.
47 year-old Salvatore Scavone was initially charged with attacks on two troopers who say they found him on Interstate 80 and had taken him to the hospital for observation. Scavone allegedly punched one trooper and knocked a second to the floor. The State Police now say Scavone’s attempt to escape was ended by a Taser gun blast fired by Polk Borough’s police chief, Ed Sharp, who happened to be on the scene.
Scavone is now also accused of punching a county jail official who was preparing to take Scavone to his arraignment.
Bail for Scavone is now set at $75,000.
