Statistics released Tuesday by the Department of Labor and Industry show that seasonally-adjusted unemployment numbers were up for most of the Oil Region in March.
An exception to the trend was Forest County where the jobless number dipped from 8.2 percent in February to 7.6 percent.
In Venango County, where between 1,600 and 1,700 residents were without work in March, the unemployment figure for the month was posted at 6.4 percent, up from 6.3 percent in February.
In Clarion County, joblessness was measured at 6.3 percent, an increase from 6.1 percent. Crawford County’s March unemployment figure was 6.1 percent, an increase from 6.0 percent. And in Warren County, unemployment was listed at 5.5 percent, up from 5.3 percent.
The statewide unemployment number in March was six percent, and the national figure was tallied at 6.7 percent.
