Most Gas Drillers Have Ignored Mandated Survey Regarding Small Business

A state report says most gas drillers in Pennsylvania are ignoring a law that requires them to complete a survey about contracts with businesses owned by women, minorities and veterans.

Response to the surveys is mandated by Act 13, the state’s two year-old oil and gas law.

Officials say fewer than one-third of the state’s gas drilling operators have replied to the survey, and about half who did stated they have not contracted with such businesses.

Radio PA News reports the Corbett administration is hoping for better compliance this year, and to get a “better grasp” on the situation.
