Justin Morneau’s three-run double off Jeanmar Gomez on Monday afternoon helped lift the Minnesota Twins to a 5-4 preseason victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates in Fort Myers, Florida.

Pittsburgh’s Jose Tabata tied the ballgame at 4-4 with a solo home run in the seventh inning, but the Twins’ Chris Colabello drove home the go-ahead run with an eighth-inning double off the Bucs’ Kris Johnson.

Felix Pie drove home another run for the Pirates (2-1), and Travis Snider knocked in two runs with a pair of sacrifice fly balls.

In three Grapefruit League games so far, Pirates starters Jeff Locke, James McDonald and Kyle McPherson have combined to pitch seven innings with opposing batters managing just one hit off any of them.

On Sunday afternoon, Wandy Rodriguez will make a start against the Baltimore Orioles at McKechnie Field in Bradenton.  Rodriguez is scheduled for two starts before he leaves to team to compete in the World Baseball Classic.
