Mini-Casino Planned For Mercer County

February 21, 2018

The fourth bid for one of ten mini-casinos now allowed under the expansion of Pennsylvania’s gambling laws has been awarded to a company which plans to build it within fifteen miles of a point they have designated in Mercer County.

Radio PA News reports that the winning $9.9 million bid was awarded to the Las Vegas Sands Corporation  which operates the Sands Bethlehem Casino in southeastern Pennsylvania.  There was one other bidder in a process limited at first to casino owners already licensed in Pennsylvania.

The mini-casinos may run up to 750 slot machines, and for another fee may operate up to forty table games.

The announcement on Wednesday came about a week after word that the third successful bid will result in a mini-casino being constructed inside Mercer County’s neighbor, Lawrence County – probably in the New Castle area.
