John Merrick sank an 18-foot par putt on the second half of a playoff on Sunday to win the Northern Trust Open at Riviera Country Club outside Los Angeles.
Charlie Beljan missed a five-foot putt for par to finish second.
Merrick and Beljan had finished 72 holes knotted at 11-under-par 273. Bill Haas, Frederik Jacobson and Charl Schwartzel all tied at -10.
It was Merrick’s first PGA Tour victory. He won $1.188 million.
