Megna Gets First NHL Points As Pens End 3-Game Losing Streak

The Pittsburgh Penguins (8-4) ended a three-game losing streak on Monday night with a 3-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh.

Rookie Jason Megna scored his first NHL goal and added an assist.  Tanner Glass and Chris Kunitz also recorded Pittsburgh goals.  Brooks Orpik assisted on all three Penguins scores, and Sidney Crosby tallied two assists.  Marc-Andre Fleury (8-2) stopped 20 shots and earned the win.

For Carolina (4-5-3), Nathan Gerbe scored a first-period power play goal.  Hurricanes goaltender Justin Peters (0-3) took the loss.

The Pens, who lead the Hurricanes and the New York Islanders by five points in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division, will host Boston (7-3) in an 8:00 PM game Wednesday at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.  Radio pregame airtime on 96.3 KQW will be 7:30 PM.
