Powerball Lottery Ticket Worth $758.7 Million Sold In Massachusetts; Five PA Players Win A Million Or More

A single Powerball Lottery ticket containing all of the numbers drawn in Wednesday night’s game and worth an annuity of $758.7 million was sold in Chicopee, Massachusetts.

A 53 year-old nurse has already claimed the huge prize.

The jackpot is the second-largest in United States lottery history, and goes into the record books as the largest payout to one individual.  The jackpot in a Powerball drawing in January, 2016 was worth a record $1.6 billion, but it was split between three ticket holders.

Pennsylvania Lottery officials now say one player in this state has now won two million dollars after matching all five of the first five numbers drawn Wednesday, but not the Powerball number, and having purchased the one-dollar Power Play option.  Four other tickets sold in Pennsylvania contained all five of the first numbers drawn -without the Power Play.  Those tickets are worth one million dollars apiece.

Four other Pennsylvania tickets, worth $200,000 apiece, contain four of the initial numbers plus the Powerball number, and were purchased with the Powerplay option.

The estimated annuity value of the Powerball jackpot for Saturday night’s drawing has been reset to $40 million, and the one-time cash value has been estimated at $25.3 million.

Meanwhile, the MegaMillions Lottery drawing for Friday has a jackpot with an estimated annuity value of $37  million after no one matched all numbers selected in Tuesday’s $25 million dollar game.  The cash value for the  big prize in the MegaMillions game currently stands at an estimate of $23.3 million.

Five Pennsylvania players will win $500 apiece from Tuesday’s drawing, and another nine will pocket $200 each.
