A Crawford County judge ruled Thursday that a Meadville teen who is accused in the New Years morning beating of a man outside a Meadville pharmacy will be tried as an adult.
The attorney for 16 year-old Timothy Bolden immediately said he will look into an appeal.
Bolden is charged with beating and kicking a 34 year-old man who subsequently required surgery in Erie. The incident allegedly occurred around 3:00 AM on the morning of January 1.
A 15 year-old friend implicated in the attack was recently found “delinquent” in juvenile court. “Delinquent” is the equivalent of a guilty verdict in adult court. The younger boy’s penalties will not be released since they were to be handed down in juvenile proceedings.
Bond for Bolden was set at $25,000, and he was sent to the Crawford County Jail. He was ordered placed on house arrest should his bond be made.
