Martin Laird Wins Texas Open – 3rd PGA Victory

Martin Laird, from Scotland, earned a trip to next weekend’s Masters tournament with his third PGA Tour victory, a win at the Valero Texas Open at the TPC San Antonio on Sunday.

Laird recorded a 9-under-par 63 on Sunday for a four-day total of 14-under-par 274, holding off a resurgent Rory McIlroy, who fashioned a 66 and finished second at -12.

Laird entered the tournament ranked 161st in the world, and finished with a prize check for $1.116 million.

Pennsylvania native Jim Furyk tied for third at 11-under-par with Charley Hoffman and Billy Horschel.
