A Butler County man faces charges after police say he fled the scene of a hit-and-run accident, broke into a home in the Mercer area, and hid out in a closet.

State Police in Mercer County say 44 year-old Bryant Edinger, from Mars, is charged with burglary, trespassing, receiving stolen property and driving under the influence.

Troopers say Edinger left the scene of a collision on Interstate 79 shortly after midnight Tuesday morning, and fled to a home in Springfield Township.  A resident at that house says he discovered Edinger in an area he described as a “furnace closet,” wearing some of the resident’s clothing.

Edinger was treated at Grove City Medical Center for minor injuries sustained in the crash.  He was then charged and arraigned, and was lodged in the Mercer County Jail.
