The organizers of an event scheduled for next Tuesday (May 6) say their rally in Harrisburg is intended to let people know that a diversity of individuals support the growing natural gas boom in Pennsylvania.
The Marcellus Shale Coalition, the largest natural gas industry group in this part of the country, wants to counteract the very vocal opponents of expanding drilling in the state by spotlighting the people who they say are benefitting from it — people like laborers, landowners and consumers.
One environmental group is already hinting at a counter demonstration.
Event organizers are hoping for about a dozen speakers, representing energy companies, unions and lawmakers, among others.
The rally Tuesday is to run from 10:00 AM until approximately 3:00 PM.
