Peyton Manning ties a National Football League record with seven touchdown throws as the Denver Broncos opened the 2013 NFL season at home on Thursday night with a 49-27 victory over the defending Super Bowl champions, the Baltimore Ravens.

No one had recorded seven TD tosses in one game since Joe Kapp for Minnesota against the Baltimore Colts in 1969.  The only other NFL quarterbacks to achieve the feat were Y.A. Tittle, George Blanda, Adrian Burk and Sid Luckman.

Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas and former college basketball player Julius Thomas all tallied two touchdown catches.  Demaryius Thomas made five catches for 161 yards, while Julius Thomas had five receptions for 110 yards.

Manning, who is 37, completed 27-0f-42 passes for 462 yards, ten shy of his career best performance.  He was not intercepted, and finished with a 141.1 quarterback rating.
