Police believe a Franklin man who lost his home to fire last Monday was robbed later in the week of military medals, weapons, cash, coin collections and extensive military-related items including Vietnam War memorabilia.

The total loss of the missing items is estimated at more than $10,000.  The memorabilia includes six Army medals and six Army plaques.

The Grant Street home of Robert Laing, Jr., a veteran and a member of numerous military support groups, was declared a total loss after a fire swept through it on February 24.  Police, though, believe the robbery occurred sometime Wednesday night, or even later.

Franklin City Police are investigating.
