An unidentified man was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after falling about 150 feet down a mountainside from a steep trail in Cook Forest.

The 46 year-old victim landed above the north banks of the Clarion River.  Rescue crews were forced to cut through trees for nearly two hours to reach the man.

Reports indicate the man was lowered with ropes to the river bank, and was then taken by boat to the Route 36 side of the river near the Cooksburg Bridge.

Firefighters from four companies and officials from two EMS companies aided in the rescue.

The victim was listed in stable condition, but there was no immediate word as to his exact injuries.
