The Franklin-area man who entered guilty pleas this summer to stealing nearly fifty bronze grave markers from a cemetery in Rocky Grove has been sentenced to up to two years in the Venango County Jail.
Officially, 28 year-old Preston Guisewite was handed a term of 25 days to two years. He will be given credit for 25 days already served.
Guisewite entered a plea of guilty in August to a charge of the desecration of venerated objects. In his plea bargain, charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property were dismissed.
Guisewite was arrested in May for stealing the bronze veterans markers from Franklin Cemetery in Rocky Grove in July, 2012, and attempting to sell them at a recycling center. A majority of the markers were recovered by investigators.
