A 23 year-old man identified by police as a transient has been arrested for allegedly robbing a Clarion convenience store – and fleeing on a bicycle.

Clarion Borough Police say Christopher Wyant was taken into custody Saturday morning about five hours after a masked man armed with two kitchen knives robbed a Main Street store of about $800 and several cartons of cigarettes.

During their investigation, police found a bicycle which had also been spotted at a disturbance call to which they had responded at around 2:00 AM Saturday, and traced the bike to Wyant.  Investigators say they recovered about $200 of the stolen money.

Wyant was charged with robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and simple assault.  He was lodged in the Clarion County Jail on $250,000 bail.
