Evgeni Malkin scored, last year’s NHL MVP. scored his fifth goal of the season in his return to the ice on Monday night and helped lead the Pittsburgh Penguins (15-8) to a 4-3 home win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Malkin had missed the Pens’ recent three-game road trip with concussion-like symptoms, but over the weekend he was medically cleared to resume contact skating, and practiced with his teammates on Sunday.
Sidney Crosby, Chris Kunitz and James Neal also scored for Pittsburgh on Monday. Marc-Andre Fleury (11-5) stopped 25 shots to earn the win in goal.
The league’s leading goal scorer, Steven Stamkos, scored twice for Tampa Bay (9-12-1).
