The Commonwealth has announced that the deadline to apply for financial assistance to help pay home heating bills through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) has been extended through April 18.
That gives potential applicants an extra two weeks in which to sign up for LIHEAP help.
The state’s Department of Public Welfare has already processed about 357,000 applications for cash assistance to help low-income households pay home heating bills. They have also approved over 107,000 crisis grants which assist with heating emergencies such as furnace failures and unexpected fuel shortages.
You may apply for a LIHEAP grant through your county assistance office or online at compass.state.pa.us.
