The latest Quinnipiac University poll shows Democratic challenger Tom Wolf holding a twenty percentage point lead over incumbent Republican Tom Corbett in the Pennsylvania gubernatorial race.

The poll’s assistant director, Tim Malloy, told Radio PA News Wednesday morning the total results of the survey add up to bad news for the current Governor in his bid for re-election.

The poll shows Wolf leading Corbett among registered voters 53 percent to 33 percent.  Corbett’s job approval rating, according to these latest numbers, is at an all-time low with his “unfavorable” rating reaching 50 percent for the first time with only 29 percent of the respondents saying they view him “favorably.”

Wolf’s “favorable/unfavorable” rating checked in at 46 percent to 14 percent, but Malloy pointed out that 38 percent of the poll’s respondents said they still have not heard enough about Wolf to be sure.

The telephone survey of 1,308 registered Pennsylvania voters carries a margin of error of plus-or-minus 2.7 percent.
