Last Play TD Gives Penn State A 21-19 Victory At Iowa

Trace McSorley hit Juwan Johnson with a 7-yard touchdown pass on a fourth-and-goal situation on the last play of the game on Saturday night, and Penn State edged Iowa 21-19 in a road game for the Nittany Lions which marked the start of the teams’ Big Ten Conference schedules.

Penn State (4-0; 1-0 Big Ten) also scored on an eight-yard run by Saquon Barkley, two field goals by Tyler Davis and a safety.

Iowa had taken a 19-15 lead with 1:42 remaining in the game on a 35-yard run by Akrum Wadley.  Wadley also was on the receiving end of a 70-yard TD pass thrown by Nathan Stanley.  Stanley also threw for a 21-yard score to Nick Easley.

After allowing the two-point safety midway through the second period, Iowa (3-1; 0-1) twice attempted two-point conversations and were unsuccessful both times.

Barkley ran for 211 yards and caught 12 passes for 94 yards.  McSorley completed 31-of-48 passes for 284 yards with one interception.  Johnson made seven receptions for 92 yards.

Stanley was 13-of-22 for 191 yards.  Wadley rushed for 80 yards and caught four passes for 75 yards.

Penn State will host Indiana on Saturday, September 30 at 3:30 PM.  Radio pregame time will be 2:00 PM on ESPN Radio 1120 only.
