Chris Kunitz scored his 30th and 31st goals of the season Monday night, leading the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-2 road victory at Washington.

Sidney Crosby tallied his 30th goal, and assisted on both Kunitz scores.  Rookie goaltender Jeff Zatkoff (10-3-1) made 31 saves on 33 shots to earn the win.

Eric Fehr and Nicklas Backstrom scored for the Capitals (30-26-10).  Kunitz’ second goal broke a 2-2 tie with 7:20 remaining in the game, and held on to become the game-winner.

Pittsburgh (43-17-4) managed just 20 shots-on-goal, but only 17 were stopped by losing goaltender Jaroslav Halak (25-10-4).

The Penguins, now once again the number-one seed in the NHL’s Eastern Conference, will host the second game of a home-and-home series with Washington on Tuesday night at 7:30 PM.  Radio pregame airtime on 96.3 KQW will be 7:00 PM.
