A Kittanning man was charged Monday in the death of a Brookville woman whose disappearance last month led to an extensive search.
State Police have charged 29 year-old Shawn Carr, currently an inmate in the Armstrong County Jail, in the death of 19 year-old Devan Knapp. Charges include third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, the abuse of a corpse and drug delivery resulting in death.
Knapp was reported missing on January 11. Her body was found in her car along a road in Fisher early on the morning of January 15. Police now say a syringe was found in her lap, and bags of suspected heroin were discovered in her car.
Investigators say Carr is accused of injecting heroin into Knapp’s arm in the Rimersburg home of a man identified as Joel Stark early in the morning of January 12. Stark reportedly has told police Knapp then stopped breathing. Stark reportedly also told troopers that Knapp died later that same day, and that he witnessed Carr take Knapp’s body in her car to the Fisher location, and arrange the scene to look like Knapp had died alone.
Police say Stark has also been arrested on a parole detainer and outstanding warrants.
