Matt Kenseth gained three slots by taking on  only fuel during his final pit stop, and the decision paid off as Kenseth sailed to victory in Sunday afternoon’s rain-delayed NASCAR Sprint Cup Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky.

The race had originally been scheduled for Saturday night.

Points standings leader Jimmie Johnson had been a late leader before the last pit stop, but would finish ninth.  Jamie McMurray finished behind Kenseth, and Clint Bowyer placed third.  Kenseth won for the fourth time this season, the top number of victories among all drivers in the series.
