Unemployment numbers climbed in just 14 of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties in the month of July. They averaged to a statewide unemployment rate of 7.5 percent.
In our part of the Oil Region, only Forest County saw a higher jobless number than in the month of June. Unemployment in Forest County climbed from 9.4 percent to 9.6 percent.
Venango County’s jobless rate slid from 8.1 percent to 7.7 percent. In Crawford County, a July unemployment rate of 7.2 percent was announced. The state Department of Labor and Industry says that figure was down from a 7.8 percent rate in June.
In Clarion County, unemployment slid from 8.4 percent to 8.2 percent. Mercer County saw their jobless number fall from 8.3 percent to 7.6 percent. And, Warren County maintained the lowest unemployment figure in the region with a July number of 6.3 percent, down from 6.7 percent in June.
