Once again this year the city of Oil City will observe the Fourth of July — on the Third of July!

Jolly July 3rd activities will run from 4:00 PM Wednesday until about 10:30 PM in and around Justus Park on the city’s North Side.

Children’s events, beginning at 4:00 PM, will include clowns, face painting, a petting zoo, inflatable toys, caricature drawings and more.  The Second Chance Band will perform in the Justus Park Bandshell from 6:30 until 10:00 PM.

The night will be climaxed by a fireworks display at 10:00 PM.

Meanwhile, in Franklin, where fireworks will be featured on the Fourth, Wednesday’s schedule continues the annual Taste of Talent vocal competition, accompanied by the Venango County Historical Society’s ice cream and cake social, all beginning at 7:00 PM at and near the bandstand in the city’s South Park.
