Jimmie Johnson Wins Second Daytona 500

With help from teammate Dale Earnhardt, Jr. who finished second, Jimmie Johnson won his second Daytona 500 on Sunday.  And, he won in his 400th NASCAR start.

Johnson took the race lead for good on the 191st of 200 laps in the 55th running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway, the opener of this year’s Sprint Cup series.

Danica Patrick, the first woman to win a Sprint Cup pole, led the race for a total of five laps, and finished eighth.  Tony Stewart captured Saturday’s Daytona event, the Nationwide Drive4COPD 300.

Next Sunday’s event will be the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway in Arizona.
