Pittsburgh Penguins forward James Neal has been suspended without pay for five games for “kneeing” Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand in a 3-2 loss to the Bruins in Boston on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, a decision is still pending on a penalty against Boston’s Shawn Thornton for apparently retaliating by knocking Pittsburgh defenseman Brooks Orpik unconscious with two blows to the head after he had pulled Orpik onto the ice.

Orpik has been placed on the injured list with a concussion, and was reported to be suffering headaches and neck and back pain.
