Christmas Past will be observed in Oil City this Friday and Saturday (Dec. 6 and 7).
The 14th version of the event will start at 5:00 PM Friday with a chili cook-off, bonfire, caroling and a visit from Santa at Central Avenue Plaza on the South Side. Readings of Christmas stories will be presented from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Oil City Library, and Christ Episcopal Church will host Santa’s Playland from 6:30 PM until 9:00 PM.
Saturday’s activities will begin at 9:00 AM with the Jingle Bell 5K Run-Walk on the North Side’s Seneca Street and on the McClintock Trail. The event will necessitate the city limiting traffic on most of Seneca Street to one lane.
Also starting at 9:00 AM will be Breakfast With Santa at St. Stephen School, the annual Sweet Treats event at the Oil City YWCA and the Yuletide Treasures craft show at Christ Episcopal Church.
The Venango Museum of Art, Science and Industry will host a chocolate festival and a Christmas tree display, both opening at 10:00 AM, and a concert featuring Mostly Brass at 11:00 AM.
The Oil City Arts Council’s Christmas Dinner Show is scheduled for 6:00 PM Saturday evening at the Days Inn.
