Alex Cobb and three Tampa Bay relievers combined on a nine-hit shutout on Wednesday night as the Rays defeated the Cleveland Indians 4-0 in the American League wild card game played at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

After closing the regular season with ten consecutive victories, the Tribe was eliminated in just one postseason game.  The Indians recorded nine hits, but stranded nine runners on base.

Tampa Bay will go on to face Boston in a best-of-five American League Division Series.

Delmon Young homered for the Rays.  Desmond Jennings added a two-run double.  Lonnie Chisenhall recorded three of the Indians’ base hits.
