In Florida: This Time The Penguins Lose 2-1 In A Shootout

Former Penguin Jussi Jokinen scored the game-winner in the fifth frame of a shootout on Monday night as the Pittsburgh Penguins lost a 2-1 decision to the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Florida.

Chris Kunitz had tied the game at 1-1 with a goal for the Penguins (28-19-8)  with 3:19 remaining in regulation play.  Sidney Crosby was the only Pittsburgh player to score during the shootout.

Nick Bjugstad scored both in regulation play and in the shootout for Florida (33-18-6), who lead the NHL’s Atlantic Division.

Florida’s Al Montoya made 31 saves and earned the win, while Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 27 shots in regulation, but took the loss.

The Penguins will return home to face Detroit on Thursday night.
