PennDOT has announced that a groundbreaking ceremony for the Emlenton Hill Improvement Project will be held Thursday morning (March 14) at 10:30 AM.
PennDOT District One executive William Petit will attend, along with other state and local officials.
The event will take place near the end of the project work zone, near the intersection of Routes 38 and 268 in Emlenton Borough.
Work on the $17-million project will cover parts of three consecutive years, and is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2015. It will include a full-depth reconstruction of about a mile-and-a-half of Route 38 in Scrubgrass Township and Emlenton Borough from the intersection of Route 208 to the juncture with Route 268. The first phase, planned to last about three-and-a-half months, includes an area from the intersection of Route 208 to Big Bend Road. Only local traffic is allowed.
The official PennDOT detour utilizes Interstate 80 between the Emlenton and St. Petersburg exits.
