Graeme McDowell, starting the final round four shots behind the top of the leaderboard, finished Sunday with a two-putt for par on the first hole of a playoff, and defeated Webb Simpson to win the RBC Heritage Tournament at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
McDowell played Sunday’s fourth round in 2-under-par 69, while Simpson recorded an even-par 71, and both golfers tied through regulation at 9-under-par 275.
Luke Donald and Kevin Streelman tied for third place at 7-under-par, while Jerry Kelly finished at -6. Charley Hoffman, Russell Henley and Chris Stroud tied at -5. Streelman and Hoffman had entered Sunday’s round in a tie for the lead. Streelman shot a 72, and Hoffman struggled to a 77.
McDowell earned $1,044,000.
