Governor Wolf Vetoes Abortion Restrictions Bill

December 19, 2017
By

As was expected, Governor Tom Wolf has vetoed abortions in Pennsylvania to the first twenty months of pregnancy.

The Governor called the legislation disingenuous in its effort to criminalize women’s health decisions to fit the Republican ideology.

Radio PA News reports the measure left no exceptions for rape, incest, fetal anomalies or a woman’s health concerns.  It had passed the state senate in February by a vote of 32-to-18, and the House of Representatives by 121-to-70 just before the present Christmas recess.

Pennsylvania’s current law bans abortion after twenty-four weeks of pregnancy.
