Franklin Wins Swimming Silver At States – Emerson Earns Fourth Career Gold

Phil Emerson captured the win in the 100-freestyle, and the Franklin High School team of Emerson, Andy Frederick, Quinn Heffern and Isaac Cooke placed second in the 400-freestyle relay, helping Franklin to a second-place finish and the silver medal at the PIAA “AA” state swimming championships at Bucknell University in Lewisburg on Thursday.

Seeded second after the preliminaries, Emerson won the 100 free final in a time of 45.63.  The 400 relay team finished in 3:13.00, just behind the swimmers from Salisbury.

Emerson had won the gold in the 50-freestyle on Wednesday, and had teamed with Frederick, Heffern and Cooke in winning the 200-freestyle relay.

Emerson, a junior, now has four golds at states.  Franklin finished eight points behind Salisbury (151-143) in the team point standings.  Fairview swimmer Robert Sikatzki, an exchange student from Germany was named Swimmer-of-the-Meet.
