Franklin native Nathan Karns posted the win Friday night as the Harrisburg Senators took a 2-games-to-1 lead in the best-of-5 Western Conference finals of the Eastern League baseball playoffs.
Karns, a top Washington Nationals prospect, pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing only five hits and striking out eight batters.
The home-standing Senators scored on a Brian Goodwin base hit, a double by Justin Bloxom, a Jason Martinson home run and a sacrifice fly by Steven Souza.
Ramon Cabrera’s infield single, following two walks and a fielder’s choice in the eighth inning, provided the only run for Erie. Seawolves starter Matt Crouse took the loss.
Erie will try to avoid elimination in the fourth game of the series Saturday night at 7:00 PM in Harrisburg. Seawolves southpaw Ramon Garcia will face Senators lefty Robbie Ray.
