A Franklin-area man entered a guilty plea in Venango County Court this week in a case in which he was accused of stealing nearly fifty veterans markers from grave sites in Franklin Cemetery in Rocky Grove last summer.
The thefts were discovered in July, 2012. Sugarcreek Borough Police say 28 year-old Preston Guisewite was arrested in May after he tried to sell the markers at a local recycling center. Investigators were able to recover 36 of the veterans markers.
On Thursday, Guisewite pleaded guilty to a charge of the prohibited sale of veterans markers. In his plea bargain, charges of theft were dismissed.
Guisewite is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
