A Franklin man has been sentenced to serve from thirteen months to two years in the Venango County Jail in connection with charges stemming from both a police chase in June and an assault incident the following month.

21 year-old Nathan McAninch had entered guilty pleas in Venango County Court.  In exchange for his pleas, several charges were dismissed.  McAninch was also ordered to serve four years probation.

McAninch was first charged in an early morning police chase which began at Coefield Corners in Franklin and ended when McAninch crashed into a tree on Grant Street.  At the time, Franklin City Police said two passengers were injured in the crash.

McAninch was also accused of assaulting a couple who were in bed at a residence on Georgetown Road.  Police reports at the time indicated that he wielded a baseball bat during parts of the attacks.  McAninch was accused of reportedly striking the male victim with his fists, and of dragging the woman off the bed by her hair and kicking her.  Police said both victims required hospital treatment.
