A Franklin man died Saturday afternoon when his car was hit by a vehicle which police say ran a stop sign at an intersection near Sandy Lake.

The victim was identified by State Police investigators as 37 year-old Ryan Voorhees, originally from Stoneboro.

Troopers say Voorhees’ car was hit by a vehicle driven by 27 year-old Elsie Weldon, from Fredonia, at the intersection of Sandy Lake-Polk Road and Booher Road.  Police say Voorhees had not been wearing a seat belt.

Weldon and two children in her vehicle sustained minor injuries.
