Franklin High School sophomore Abby Jones will represent Venango County athletes at the PIAA track-and-field championships next week after winning her second straight District 10 high jump championship.

Jones won the district title with a jump of 5’7″ at the D-10 “AAA” Championships at Harbor Creek High School on Wednesday.  That mark topped her championship jump of 2012 by two inches.

Jones was the only athlete from Franklin or Oil City to qualify for the state meet which will be held at Shippensburg University on May 24 and 25.  She also placed second in the triple jump.

Franklin’s Zach Cartwright took second in the pole vault, and teammate Adam Fiorentino finished second in the javelin in the “AAA” boys meet, also held at Harbor Creek.

The Cathedral Prep boys and the Grove City girls won the team points titles.
