The Franklin Area School Board voted Monday night to open the position of boys varsity basketball coach.

The five members of the nine-member board who attended the meeting all voted in favor of the proposal following an executive session held to discuss the matter.

Jason Fulmer has coached the FHS Knights for the past three years, following a two-year stint at Oil City.

Franklin already has begun the 2013 baseball season with a new coach, Brian Schmidt, and the school board recently hired former Cochranton High School coach Tom Haynes to be Franklin’s new varsity football head coach.
