Four Traffic Deaths In Pennsylvania During Thanksgiving Travel Period

November 29, 2017
By

The Pennsylvania State Police say four deaths and 209 injuries were recorded in the 981 crashes their troopers investigated during the five-day Thanksgiving travel period from last Wednesday through Sunday.

The numbers represented fifty more crash investigations than during the same travel weekend last year, but two fewer fatalities.

The PSP says 85 of the crashes investigated and one of the fatalities were alcohol-related.

629 D-U-I arrests were made by the State Police, nearly 16,000 speeding citations were handed out – about 2,000 more than last year, and 1,125 people were cited for seat belt violations.  172 citations were issued for child safety seat violations.

The State Police say these statistics represent only the crashes they investigated, and do not include numbers from incidents to which other law enforcement agencies responded.
