Four Score, And Penguins Win Sixth Of Seven

October 18, 2013

Four key members of the Pittsburgh Penguins scored Thursday night in a 4-1 road win over the Philadelphia Flyers (1-7) as the Pens improved to 6-1 this season.

Sidney Crosby set a personal best with his goal, tallying a point in each of the first seven games of the season.  Jussi Jokinen, Chris Kunitz and Evgeni Malkin also scored for Pittsburgh, which holds a 3-point edge over Carolina in the new NHL Metropolitan Division.  Marc-Andre Fleury (6-0) earned the win in goal, stopping 24 of 25 shots.

Wayne Simmonds scored for the Flyers.  Philadelphia goaltender Steve Mason (1-5) sustained the loss.

The Penguins will face Vancouver in a Saturday afternoon (1:00 PM) home game at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

Due to Clarion University Golden Eagles football on Saturday, the next Penguins broadcast on 96.3 KQW will come Monday night (7:00 PM airtime) when Pittsburgh hosts Colorado.
