Former Oil City Teacher Gets Five Years Probation In Corruption Of Minor Case

A former Oil City High School teacher was sentenced Tuesday to five years probation in a case in which he was accused of carrying on a relationship with a teenage student over a period of nearly two-and-a-half years.

In August, 39 year-old Shaun McLoughlin had entered a guilty plea in Venango County Court to a count of the corruption of a minor.

McLoughlin must also register as a sex offender under Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law requirements, perform fifty hours of community service and avoid contact with the now 19 year-old woman with whom he was involved.

Investigators had said the relationship began in late 2014 when the girl was sixteen years old, and continued through April of this year.  Prosecutors said some physical contact occurred on the grounds of the high school, and that McLoughlin met the student at locations in three other counties.

The relationship allegedly continued after the girl left school in June, 2015.
