A former Oil City man who most recently has lived in Erie has been arrested and charged in two Venango County robberies which occurred in late 2011.

Records show 32 year-old Steven Shawgo was arrested in Erie this week, and was arraigned in Seneca on two counts of robbery and two charges of theft by unlawful taking.

Officials say Shawgo is charged in the robbery of a “dollar” store on Route 322 in Cranberry Township on December 11, 2011, and the armed robbery of a convenience store on Riverside Drive outside Oil City exactly one week later.

After his arraignment, Shawgo was placed in the Venango County Jail in Franklin on $50,000 bail, awaiting a preliminary hearing next week.
