A Monday morning fire that destroyed a Forest County newspaper building was apparently started when a vehicle ran off the road and sheared off a utility pole, causing the sparking of downed electric lines.
The fire at The Forest Press on South Elm Street in Tionesta was reported shortly after 6:00 AM. Five fire companies responded.
No injuries were reported.
PennDOT says Route 36 was closed to traffic for most of the morning from Bridge Street in Tionesta to German Hill Road.
No word has yet been officially released concerning the initial traffic accident. Meanwhile, one newspaper official says The Forest Press, which has connections to the Titusville Herald, will continue to print their paper.
