United States and Pennsylvania flags will be flying at half-staff this Thursday (Nov. 7) to honor former Congressman William Coyne who died Sunday at age 77.
Governor Corbett issued the executive order for flags in the Capitol Complex in Harrisburg and at all state facilities in Coyne’s home region, Allegheny County.
Coyne served as a state Representative for one term in the early 1970’s before spending six years on Pittsburgh City Council. He was Pittsburgh’s Congressman in Washington from 1981 until his retirement in 2003, serving on the U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means.
