So, you’ve said it’s the rare summer weekend without a local festival.
Look toward Kellettville in Forest County. That is where the first Pennsylvania Firefly Festival begins today (June 21).
The weekend will feature guided nighttime walks to see firefly displays, along with music, arts and crafts and educational programs.
The festival begins at 5:00 PM, and will continue with activities planned for both Saturday afternoon and Saturday night.
Few may know that the firefly is Pennsylvania’s official state insect, and the Oil Region boasts as many as seventeen different varieties of fireflies.
