Crews from six fire departments were unable to save a popular restaurant in Sligo, destroyed by fire Monday night.
A State Police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze at the Korner Restaurant on Colerain Street. The fire was called in about 8:30 PM Monday. One source said it is believed the blaze started on, or near, a wall in the restaurant’s dining room and spread to the building’s roof.
Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to a neighboring gas station. The flow to the gas pumps was shut off while crews were on the scene.
No injuries were reported. Damage is reportedly estimated at close to $300,000.
