A State Police fire marshal is continuing an investigation into the cause of a fire that destroyed a landmark hardware store in downtown Sandy Lake on Wednesday afternoon.
Ten fire companies responded to the blaze on South Main Street in Sandy Lake shortly after 1:30 PM on Wednesday. Many of the responders were on the scene for about seven hours.
Firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading to adjacent businesses, although a neighboring floral shop sustained smoke and water damage. No injuries were reported.
